In the world of sustainable fashion and eco-friendly fabrics, every waste can become a resource.
This is what Ratti SpA has demonstrated with the 2end Life Fibers project: transforming silk leftovers – normally destined for disposal – into a thermal padding for duvets and blankets.
A concrete example of textile recycling and circular economy in the fashion sector.
Why talk about textile waste?
When producing a piece of clothing, about 20% of the fabric becomes waste. In the case of silk, this means wasting a precious, breathable natural fiber with excellent thermal insulation properties.
Ratti has chosen not to waste anything.
Unused silk is:
• recovered
• shredded
• transformed into fiber
• blended to create lightweight, breathable and high-performance insulation
This is how duvets and quilts are born without goose down, but with a sustainable heart.

An ethical alternative to goose down
Choosing an alternative padding also means making a cruelty-free choice.
In several non-EU countries, the practice of plucking live geese, an extremely painful procedure for animals, is still widespread. Using recycled textile fibers is therefore a more ethical and responsible solution.
Sustainable fashion also means respect.
